Zeke bit his lip and glanced up sheepishly at Kale. "You know, I've always had my suspicions I might have been, but my parents swear I'm both of theirs..." he joked with a nervous laugh. He looked back down at the parts around him with a guilty frown. A moment later and his face lit up again. He picked up a tiny metal screw and looked back at Kale. "I found the screw at least! So you know, that's good, right?"

Kale's eye twitched. He shifted his coat ever so slightly so that he revealed the pistol at his belt, and made a point to rest his hand against its body.
"Fix the damn thing, if you know what's good for you," he growled, ignoring his words completely. "Before I blow your brains out for both stealing from me and making a fool of me."

Daveren slipped over to Kale and reached out to put a calming hand on his arm. "He's not here, don't worry. And if Zeke is anything like the technologist he looks to be, he'll be able to fix that radio in next to no time."
Daveren looked directly at Kale, smoothly removing the hand from his arm. "You know your anger is better spent." His gazed moved to the window where outside, thick heavy storm-clouds were amassing, turning the streets as dark as night.

"You can't shoot what you can't see," Ezekiel muttered to himself. He moved his multi-tool so he was holding it between his teeth, and then positioned two of the pieces together before grabbing it again and starting to reattach them with the screw he'd just found. "I'm working on it though. Really. Heck, I'll make it even better than it was before. No need to go threatening me with your little gun."

Kale looked away from Zeke, turning to the stranger who had shown him the box.
"How do you know that?" he asked quietly, his voice weak. "He could be out there, in that storm. He's afraid of lightning."
However, even as the words passed his lips, he did not believe that the storm outside was a thunderstorm. It looked far too ominious to be a simple weather change.

Daveren shrugged. "I can't sense him." He said, walking over to the window. "He is bound to you, and through you I should be able to sense him, but I cannot." He glanced over at the royals and grimaced. "Like those two."
"Even so, I have reason to believe that the event was localised. Call it...intuition."

"Intuition," he repeated, frowning at him.
All of this sensing nonsense was irritating him - yet another person who was 'gifted' while he was ignorant of everything about this world. He felt stupid and inferior - feelings that he was not used to having.
"Why would it be localised? Why would only certain people be taken?"
He folded his arms across his chest.
"Romana said that last night never happened for me, although I suppose it was two days ago now. What could she be talking about?"

Daveren smiled. "Why does it bother you so much to hear that? Do you think all that is can be contained within the single shot of the pistol? Ghosts and demons aside, do you really think the potential of mankind is so limited?" He crooked an eyebrow. "Some of us can walk, or run, or shoot, or dance and somersault. Some of us can think and strategise, pick locks and take lives. Some of us can sense things, can use things, can dream of what is and what will be."
"Such things are elemental, Kale, passed down from those superstitious ancestors that we all revile. When humans numbered few, it was easier to see." He shrugged. "Believe me or not, I am a little like you. I am a stranger here...it's just that i'm more ...familiar... with this turn of events."
"And Romana...is far wiser than I."

"Of course I don't think humanity is so limited," Kale responded. "You think little of me, sir. I know that humanity has the capacity to be whatever it wishes, to become anything and everything. To wish to capture the essence of everything, or leave it free. Although, I must admit that I am not part of this brilliant part of humanity. I am not proud of who I am, but I will not deny that I am a man confined to little more than destruction. I am not a dreamer."
"It seems that many people here are wise, or at least can infer more than I. I have to admit that I have little idea what is occuring in this world, nor can I even guess. All I want is to go home."
"So if you would please refrain from speaking in riddles and provide some information as to why this world has suddenly lost it's light, I would be grateful."

Amelia thumbed through her guide quickly before letting out a low growl. "Dagnabbit, I knew I should never have bought this dangfangled, lousy piece of trash!" The woman threw the black book into a nearby mud puddle, stomping it for good measure, and glanced back up at the candy shop in front of her. "Might as well go in. See if someone there has directions." She mumbled to herself, pulling her coat about her and standing as erect as possible. She pushed open the door with a gloved hand and stepped inside; her eyes took a moment to adjust to the light. All she could hear was voices.

Kale watched as a newcomer entered the shop, and his eyes widened when he noticed the still-open door.
"Don't close it!" he cried out, remembering what someone had said about being unable to open the door. If it stayed open, he could get out and try to work out where he was. He no longer cared about these strangers' riddles and 'knowledge'. All he wanted was to be able to know where he was.

"Hi there!" Zeke called out as someone new entered the shop. He then glanced quickly over at Kale and back to the partially assembled radio. He went back to work on it in a hurry before Kale could actually try to use that gun of his. Even if he thought he could avoid being shot that was the last thing any of them needed... He was almost done anyway.

"I think I have a new theory..." Daveren started, looking at the woman standing by the door. "Perhaps..." He walked around the shop, running his hands over the walls and examining it for something. "Perhaps... it is this place that is special, and not from anything we did at all."
He stood in the centre of the room and spun slowly, his eyes flickering over everything. "Could it be..?" He asked in awe.
"Quickly!" He snapped off to the girl. "What is the last thing you remember?"

Amelia's brow furrowed towards the darkness. "Don't be closing what now?" The question became meaningless as the door slipped from her grasp, slamming solidly behind her. On instinct, she tried to open the door before rattling off a string of curses underneath her breath. That is, until one of the men interrupted.
Of course, Amelia, you always have to find the crazy ones.
She shook her head, close cropped dark curls falling out of place. "Flying. I have a...shipment for some buyers. Next thing I know, we're docked." She quirked an eyebrow, "I don't suppose any of you clever bunch has figured out a way out? Or what this place even is."
Maybe Mother was right. Maybe she should have gone into fashion.

Kale cast his eyes heavenward, cursing under his breath when the door slammed shut.
But he had to admit, the fact that she had been flying had caught his attention.
"I have no idea where we are, or how I got here. Though I'm sure that one of these 'wise' individuals will probably tell you the answer. Although, where were you flying? Towards which city?"
He had to stop himself from growing too hopeful. The chances of her seeing Vash at all were next to none.

Her eyes were finally adjusted, allowing her to clearly make out the forms.
"You at least got a clue about your name?" Amelia asked, casting a dark eyed glance at the man speaking. From what she could see, there were quite a few that were men. Not that it was unusual in her line of work, but still, one had to be careful. At least she had her...
Wait. She'd left it outside.
Damnit.
"I wasn't heading to a city anyway." She let out a laugh, picking a nearby section of wall to lean against. "Heading to the mountains. The Mora Mountains. Ever heard of 'em?"

Daveren looked a little deflated at the lackluster answer, but shrugged and moved on. "Well, thanks anyway." He said to the woman.
He picked up a jar of pear drops, then put it down thoughtfully and picked up one of jaw-breakers. With a smooth motion, he cast the jar with force at the window, his expression one of curiosity.

"Kale Henessey," he responded. "My apologies for not introducing myself earlier."
He refused to be disappointed. He had expected her to not have seen Vash.
He plastered a fake smile on his lips as he regarded her.
"I have to admit that I have not. Why were you going there?"

Oryn drew his cloak around himself more tightly, shivering slightly as the rain fell with increased force. He shook his head. This was no ordinary storm. He spotted the soft glow of a light off to his left and made towards it. A small building drew into view, and Oryn stumbled up to the closed door to pound against the wood with frozen fingers.

"Why? You got some sort of theory floating about?" Amelia asked, shifting her gaze towards the other man. As he picked up a jar and threw it, she prepared herself for the crash. In the same way she prepared herself for everything else. By talking.
"Nice meeting you, Henessey. My name's Amelia." She quirked an eyebrow at him. "Like I told you, I had a shipment. Where were you hoping I was heading?"

"Kinsley," he said quietly, reluctant to tell her too much information. "I had hoped you'd seen someone I know, but... apparently not."

She glanced down at her boots, "Sorry. Guess not." Her eyes brightened, "Unless he...what does he do?"
Not your line of work, that's for sure.
A pounding on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Uh...I think you'll just have to push it open, stranger. Last I checked, none of us know how to get out."

"He doesn't do anything," he admitted, averting his eyes. "He's only a child. But... I'm sure he'll be fine. I know someone who will keep him safe."
The ghost of a scowl appeared on his lips.
"Whether I like it or not..."

Oryn grimaced and tried turning the doorknob, but the door refused to open. With fumbling fingers he pulled a lock pick from inside his cloak, leaning down to examine the lock on the door. It was difficult, but he'd seen worse.
Several minutes later he heard the familiar click that indicated his success, and stowed away the lock pick before pushing open the door to reveal the dimly lit interior of what appeared to be a candy shop filled with people.

Daveren watched the jar approach the window, wincing in expectation. However, it sailed straight through, sliding through the glass like butter to smash onto the road outside. It left a smooth round hole, like the glass had parted for it.
"Interesting." He said, in massive understatement.

Zeke finally finished re-piecing the radio together, and he tossed it casually towards Kale and then scrambled to his feet and away from the man. It was probably be in his best interest to be farther away from the man just in case the radio didn't work. He was normally good with technology, but he was also sometimes prone to causing explosions... He walked over to the front of the store to closer examine the new arrivals, and to see what Daveren was up to with the jar of candies. He stared out the window at the shattered jar and the scattered jawbreakers. "What a waste of jawbreakers," he mumbled glancing back towards Daveren.

Oryn's dark eyes narrowed as he examined the occupants of the shop. Many of them looked to be armed. Well, at least it was dry in here. He stepped away from the door, leaving it ajar, and made his way towards the dark corner of the shop, where hopefully no one would question him.

Amelia didn't question Kale this time. It didn't seem right. There was obviously something bothering him and well, the less enemies she made, the better.
Another man entered the shop, soaking wet. Quiet. She quirked an eyebrow, jerking her chin towards him. "Got a ship?"

Oryn glanced at the woman who had asked about a ship. "No," he replied tersely, taking a seat in the corner. He winced slightly, but swiftly covered the expression with an emotionless mask and suddenly found the floor incredibly fascinating.

Ezekiel soon grew bored of the gathering by the door, and so he followed Oryn to a corner in the back. He looked over Oryn curiously for a moment and then rocked a little on his feet. "Hi there. Why are you sitting over here all by yourself? As long as we're all stuck here we may as well talk right? My name's Zeke. It's short for Ezekiel Zachariah Alexander Montgomery. What about you? What's your name? Where are you from?" he asked, grinning at the man.
